The Kathmandu Collection

The Kathmandu Collection

Drawn from the carved struts, window screens and repeated geometry of the older parts of the valley.

The collection started with a set of photographs one of our designers took of the wooden struts on a temple in Patan Durbar Square — the way a single motif repeats down a beam, changing slightly each time because it was cut by hand.

We spent most of a year working out how to carry that into metal without producing souvenirs. What survived is the repetition and the hand variation: granulated surfaces, forms that echo rather than copy, and finishes that show the tool.

Every piece in the collection is made in our Lalitpur workshop. Because the surfaces are worked by hand, no two are quite identical — which is the point.
